The Aeromedical Section is responsible for the recognition and oversight of Aeromedical Examiners (AMEs) and Aeromedical Centers (AeMC). In addition, Aeromedical Section is responsible for assessing the aero-medical fitness (physical and psychological aptitude) of aviation personnel in cases specified by EU law, as well as for the recognition of aeromedical training courses.
Austro Control GmbH is the competent authority for aeromedical matters according to Regulation (EU) No. 1178/2011 as well as Regulation (EU) 2015/340 in conjunction with the relevant provisions of the Austrian Aviation Act. This task is performed by the Aeromedical Section as part of the Aviation Agency Department, Aircrew Section (LFA/ACW).
